Bidvest supports sustainable livelihoods.
United Fishing Enterprises, a Bidvest
company, is creating jobs in partnership
with the Namibian government through
the development of a new canned product
combining beans and fish.
Offcuts of fish that would previously have
been thrown away are now being used.
A supply chain has been created for
approximately 35 rural bean farmers in
Northern Namibia, who are now able to
sustain themselves and their families.
Additional employment has been created
for 75 factory workers and the canning
period has been extended by three to four
months, creating longer working periods
for existing seasonal workers.
